Our Logo

We designed our logo carefully and intentionally, hoping it would convey our values and approach to working with our amazing students. 

We hope you like it and find it as meaningful as we do!

The Butterfly Motif

Butterflies represent transformation, just as our middle school students are in a transformational stage of their lives. It also can represent a new state of identity, which is important for some of our students. 

The Student at the Center

The luminous figure at the center of the logo reminds us that our students are at the center of all we do. They are filled with light and bring joy to others every day. 

The Circle

The circle represents safety and security, just as Chrysalis Academy holds and protects each student through their identity exploration and the often tumultuous middle school years. Just as the butterfly’s wings extend past the circle, our students emerge from their time with us more confident and secure in themselves. This imagery also represents that our students refuse to be confined and defined by labels that others might try to apply. 

The Colors

The many colors within the logo represent the many facets of our students and pay tribute to the intentional design of Chrysalis Academy for LGBTQ+ and gender expansive students. The fluid blending of the colors suggests the ebb and flow of the many ways in which students may perceive themselves. 

The Hearts

The subtle hearts formed by the negative space within the wings represent the love that wraps around each student as they journey through our school, as well as the support that holds them as they enter into a deeper understanding of themselves. 

The Intersection of Hearts

The hearts intersect at the center, creating the student figure, much like different aspects of our students' identity intersect to create their unique and beautiful total identities. We honor the ways each person’s individual identities form and influence who they aspire to become.
