Our Mission

At Chrysalis Academy, we envision both education and identity formation as transformative journeys, much like the metamorphosis within a chrysalis in nature. 

We are unwaveringly dedicated to fostering an affirming and empowering environment for LGBTQ+ and gender-expansive youth, serving as their protective cocoon during these pivotal middle and high school years. 

Inside this nurturing space, students are given time and space to explore, stretch, and eventually take flight, equipped with strong academic skills and a deeper sense of self.

As each student navigates their personal and academic evolution, we are committed to ensuring that they emerge as confident, compassionate thinkers and advocates.

Our Relational Approach

Recognizing the individuality of each learner, we approach all our one-on-one sessions through a student-centered lens. Learning profiles are as unique as students, and we find that young people are often interested in discovering how their brain works and how to help it work more easily on learning tasks. Getting to know each student and leveraging their interests and strengths, we help students recognize barriers to learning and acquire skills and confidence to move past them. We also help students connect with positive LGBTQ+ and neurodiverse role models and, within a supportive setting, unpack both explicit and implicit societal messages with the goal of increasing confidence and strengthening resilience.
